the international language association

ICC – the international language association, a dedicated community of language and communication professionals with over 25 member organisations worldwide, was founded formally in 1994.

Our aim is to promote excellence in the teaching and learning of languages by:

  • defining professional standards for teachers and learners
  • sharing best practice from different countries and cultures in conferences and “Think Tanks”
  • disseminating these standards and practice to the widest possible public
  • evaluating language education products (courses, materials, testing systems) and accrediting products of quality
  • offering participation in EU co-funded initiatives as well as consultancy and support to members wishing to start up EU funded projects

As an international non-governmental organization (INGO), the ICC participates in debates and decisions at the Council of Europe. Furthermore, the ICC is a founder member of the Professional Network Forum at the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML).
