EUROLTA for Refugees and Asylum Seekers

Abstract
Presenting on the course that aims to provide initial language teacher training within the context of teaching refugees and asylum seekers. The training that will be outlined is dedicated to the unique needs of the refugee learner, promoting hands-on experience from experts in the refugee education field. The principles of the EUROLTA teacher-training programme underpin the course, but the context is geared towards those working with the target groups. The course encompasses general language teaching pedagogy, alongside training tasks that have been specifically devised with these learners in mind.
Bio
Elizabeth Mickiewicz is a Course Leader within the Initial Teacher Training faculty in the National Institute of Teaching and Education, Coventry University Group. She has a long standing background in teacher training and education. She is a specialist in English as an Additional Language/ English for Speakers of Other Languages and her vast teaching experience includes working with individuals of all ages from new migrant communities.
