“My EUROLTA Journey” – Written by Aikaterini Aivazoglou, Greek Language Teacher (09/2026)
After more than ten years of teaching Greek as a Second Language, I decided to take a closer look at my own teaching practice. I wanted to combine the knowledge I had gained through my studies with the experience I had built in the classroom and become a more reflective, self-aware teacher.
That journey led me to the EUROLTA (European Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults) programme. Through the Hellenic Culture Centre, I had the privilege of working with two outstanding trainers, Ifigenia Georgiadou and Nikos Konstantopoulos, whose guidance made the experience both inspiring and highly practical.
EUROLTA helped me refine techniques I was already using, introduced me to new learner-centred approaches, and gave me greater confidence in my teaching. Even more valuable was becoming part of a community of passionate language educators who openly shared ideas, questions, successes, and challenges.
The warm and supportive atmosphere created by Ifigenia and Nikos reminded me of one of the most important principles of language learning: students thrive when they feel safe, welcomed, and encouraged before they are corrected. This is a value I will continue to bring into every Ithaki classroom.
My EUROLTA experience has strengthened my commitment to sharing the Greek language with my students and inspired me to continue my professional development with EUROLTA Diploma, so that I can one day empower other language teachers in the same way I was empowered.
