ECSPM is organising its 2025 annual symposium on “ACTIONS FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE IN MULTILINGUAL SOCIETIES” to celebrate 10 years of development, expansion and enlargement as an organisation independent from the DG Education and Culture of the European Commission, which initially launched it.

The symposium will be hosted by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) on May 15th and 16th.  It is co-organised by the Multilingualism, Discourse, and Communication Research Centre (MIRCo), building on the insights derived from its Equiling research project and from previous ECSPM symposia. The intention is that the work presented at the symposium will extend beyond critical analysis of how the management of multilingualism in lower and higher education exacerbates social inequality. The aim is to explore collaborative perspectives, methods, and strategies for transforming social and linguistic reality in schools and universities.

ICC recently extended a warm welcome to new members during its Annual Conference (Transforming Language Education: Diversity, Engagement and Innovation) held in Athens from April 19-21, 2024.Our Co-Chairs, Myriam Fischer and Tatjana Kovac, greeted the newcomers in a memorable moment that saw participants joining both in person and virtually.

On December 13 and 14, in response to the invitation from the European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe (ECML), our co-chairs, Myriam Fischer and Tatjana Kovac, attended the 2023 ECML conference in Graz, Austria.
